Whippet Family Therapy

Relationships are amazingly complex and interactively exciting. I recently provided a reading session for a woman with four whippets. This family started with one dog, a female, and were so pleased with the results they adopted another. Then the fun took a turn when the second dog had pups. We all know, life changes when there are puppies in the house!

I first met this fast-paced group at a Holiday party at their house. Over the next few months most of the puppies had been shipped off to new homes. Two puppies, one male and one female, remained. The eldest dog had grown distant, and wanders away from the pack when they go to the off-leash park. At home she isolates herself for hours at a time. This worried her owner, and she finally requested a session to find out why her eldest whippet continued this anti-social behavior.

During the session I looked at how each dog serves the group. In addition we looked at the roles each was trying to perform, and brought in a few modifications to help build a more harmonic relationship between everyone. “Talk with your Animals” was the strongest message in this reading session, for everyone needed to know what role they served.

Here’s what was shared with me in the weeks after the session:

“Estee assisted me and my pack of dogs (2 adults and 2 puppies) to have a breakthrough in understanding with more harmony in the pack after the intervention. I was able to see each dog in a new light and modify my behavior as well. My oldest and dearest dog and I were able to have a heart to heart after that really helped both of us break though an emotional stuck-point.”

That “heart to heart” can really make a difference. In my own interaction with my oldest dog, Shadow, we have special times for bonding and renewing our relationship. This is no different than one-to-one time between two people. Shadow had been abandoned as a puppy, and has always been a little over confident yet needy at the same time. A little reassurance of her role in the family as well as her responsibilities helps in her ability to accept change within the household.

Matisse, Little Prince

Matisse enjoyed the best in life, whether it was his ‘chinese food dance’ or a loving tummy rub. This photo, at age 16, echoes the joy in his heart.

One day I received a call from a friend. She was at the vet clinic. Matisse was very ill. I was asked to send a remote healing and prayer, which later brought him enough relief to interact with his family. In addition to the healing I also shared my intuitive observations, which they sadly confirmed to be the vet’s assessment, too. I described a blockage between the stomach and intenstinal tract, one of the abilities I use as a medical intuitive. I had not been told, Matisse had a tumor removed from that same spot five years prior. Because of his advanced age they decided not to risk another surgery.

With great sadness we said, ‘goodnight and blessings, little prince’.  This dog was loved beyond any description.  Matisse will always hold a special place in the hearts of his family.
