Ceramic Dog Bowls Are Very Stylish But Are They Right For Your Dog?

Posted by Alice Washerstein

Decorative ceramic dog bowls are pretty, but they are also costly. These dog bowls can be pricey, you can pay well up to $100 for one bowl. Your dog doesn’t care what you paid for his bowl, all he cares about is that they are kept clean and there is food and water in them when he wants it.

Your dog probably has one set of bowls, and they use them more than other items they may have except maybe their bed (or yours). They love us unconditionally and in return we love them, feed them and take care of them. We should also do our best to keep them healthy. You might not be informed that having the wrong type of bowl can result in health problems.

Ceramic dog bowls are a good choice because:

1.Even bottoms stop them from being knocked over

2.They also feature designs that that compliment your dcor

3.They are safe in the dishwasher or easy to clean by hand

4.Many sizes, colors and decorations

You may not want your child using a ceramic dog bowl to feed their pet because if dropped they will break. A child might not notice cracks in the bowls either. Even a small crevice can hide bacteria which is dangerous to your dog. Bacteria left unchecked cause parasites which can make your dog very sick.

Other things to consider when buying your dogs bowls are:

1.The size of your dog

2.The length of your dogs’ snout – long or short

3. Ears – floppy or short

These things are important because:

1.If you have a large dog you will need a large dog bowl

2. A long nose on a dog means they will need a deep bowl, while a short nosed dog will feel cramped eating out of a deep bowl.

3. Floppy ears can drag in your dogs’ food and water and cause ear mites. For these types of ears you would want a narrow ceramic dog bowl.

Ceramic dog bowls are beautiful and can brighten up a room. If you have a tall dog they can even be put into a stylish raised dog feeding station. Raised dog bowls are necessary if you own a large dog. Tall dogs will have to bend their head and neck to eat and drink if their bowls are on the floor. This causes digestive problems.

As Your dog starts getting older they can have joint problems from bending to eat. Putting your ceramic dog bowl into a raised feeding station will alleviate the pain.

Finally, ceramic dog bowls can be an excellent choice for you and your dog. Always check for any fractures or small fissures and remind a child to handle a ceramic dog bowl gently.
