A Longer Life For Your Cat
Posted by Jane RinterAll owners of cats will no doubt wish a long and healthy life for their lovable pets. Doing so can be easily accomplished, although there are a few important factors that should be considered to ensure your cat lives a long life.
Some of the details that cat owners have to be aware of appear to be basic but are critical. The first one should be obvious but is not always followed, and that is to create a comfortable environment for the cat to live in. This can come in as simple a form as a cat bed with some soft blankets.
Being clean and hygienic is also important for cats. You do not want them to develop a flea problem. Therefore, keep its living quarters clean and your house free from dust and dirt as much as possible.
Another very important point that must be observed to ensure a cat’s longevity is the food given to it. Not many people might be aware of this, but cats are actually natural meat eaters and do not feed on vegetable based foods.
It is perhaps this little known fact that there are many cat owners who continue to feed cat ‘health food’ to them. These are usually in the form of grains, biscuits or cereals which are not necessarily bad, but are not suitable for the little animals.
So in order to give your cat what it needs most, go for fresh meat products that have been manufactured for them specifically. Alternatively you can prepare your own with fish or other types of meat. They thrive on animal protein and not synthetically produced forms of life’s building blocks.
There are also canned cat foods which are meat based and suitable for consumption. However, they have additives to ensure a longer shelf life. Fresh meat is your best option and vegetable based foods should only be given as a last resort.
Providing a good living environment that is clean with a healthy supply of fresh meat, it should help to allow your cat to live its maximum lifespan. The things to be done are no different from what some of you might already be doing. So continue to do your utmost to help your cat enjoy its best years with its loving owner.
