Natural Internal Parasite Control

I’m a firm believer in using what nature has to offer, and in fact as I type this statement I feel the empowerment that the earth offers to each and every one of us.  There are many ways we can assist our animal companions, something that is necessary since so much of their nature processes have given way to our human lifestyle. 

Parasites are a way of life.   Normally we use parasite, in the form of bacteria, to aid us in digesting our food.  These bacteria’s are in balance with our bodies, and are oxygen based.  Healthy animals, and people for that matter, are typically resistant to other “bad” parasites.  Circumstances may occur that cause this normal balance to shift, such as illness, improper diet, swallowing of fleas or ticks, or any of a number of causes.

There are some simple remedies that can be given to our pets to promote health and decrease the likelihood of harmful parasites.  One such remedy is adding a small amount of diatomaceous earth to their drinking water.  I asked my naturopath about this treatment, he stated that he includes it in his regular health maintenance program.  The dogs have no issue with drinking this water.  Care must be given in handling this substance, keep from breathing it, and keep it from eyes.  Once it is in the water it only does hard to the microscopic parasites in the body, and is a natural substance that does not pollute. 

Another treatment or remedy is miracle mineral supplement, or MMS.  I know many individuals who have used the Jim Humble protocol for thier own health, with good results.  I have also tried this self-care program, with very positive results.  When giving it to a pet you want to take in account their weight, and give an amount that suits their size.  For my 40 lb dog I give one drop typically, though I started with 1/2 and will expand up to 3 drops per treatment, gradually.  Since the taste is not so appealing I mix it with the water from the tuna can, or organic low sodium chicken broth.  I have seen immediate energy boosts with my 10 year old dog!  MMS is also a natural substance, sodium chlorite, and runs its course in 12 hours.  It becomes simply water and sodium.
