And Now For Something Completely Different

Most of my posts are related to pets and animal companions.  These creatures might be said to have faces only a mother could love, and may be a little intimidating, especially when a group of them are circling above.  All kidding aside, they are still amazing creatures. 

I’ve travelled south for a few days, and am staying in a small town in the desert lands of Oregon.  Within feet of my accomodations there is a pair of trees that are the summer home for a flock of vultures. 

To watch them returning to their roost in the evenings is amazing, as they glide gracefully by, at times appearing to be motionless in the sky. 

In the morning they greet the day from the fence posts behind an abandoned schoolhouse.  They receive the morning sun, warming their wings, and I believe filling their hearts with the radiant energy that surrounds them. 

Yes, I would say this is something completely different!  These delightful birds were quite gracious in my visit, and allowed me within about 30 feet of their morning ritual.  Thanks to these lovely and unusual birds who do us the honor of cleaning up things we do not want to touch.  They are the transitional bird in the spirit world, offering us the gift of transformation.  In the Mayan Tzolkin calendar the vulure is Cib.
